Hi! I’m M. Shaw. I write fiction, poetry, personal essays and criticism. I have a book, One Hand to Hold, One Hand to Carve, a new weird horror novella published by Tenebrous Press, which you can buy direct from the publisher or from your retailer of choice. I live in Arvada, Colorado, which is like Denver but not. According to my colleagues, the common tropes in my work are dream logic, non-sequiturs, lack of closure, internet references, strange obsessions, 90’s video games, 90’s loneliness, deer, and the self-destruction of the gender binary. I’m genderqueer and use they/them pronouns, in case that was at all unclear from the above info.
I operate a small press and bookseller called Trouble Department, which I also use to distribute my sci-fi poetry chapbook A Race Between the Air and the Bullets. I have a bunch of work online, which you can find listed to the best of my ability here. My social media presence is in flux at the moment because Twitter has become a 44 billion dollar mantrum, so I’m not sure exactly where you’ll be able to find me most regularly going forward, but I’m having a go at it on Tumblr and Mastodon, and my Twitter account is still active if you must. I’m also trying to get rolling on an email newsletter, which you can sign up for right the fuck here:
